Marva Stokes of Carson, California has been in love with the art of beauty since the age of seven. From kitchen beautician to licensed cosmetologist, Marva has become one of the most sought-after hairstylists in the entertainment industry. A lifelong learner, Marva graduated from Aveda Institute, Los Angeles, and she continuously takes courses to stay ahead of the game. Her hard work, strong work ethic, and great attention to detail have set her on a path to greatness. Marva’s tenacity has made her dreams become a reality, her work includes but is not limited to working with TV networks, music videos, film, and beauty brands. She has been coined “ The Queen of Salon to Set” working on projects such as Iron Heart, Black Panther, Mixed-ish, Legion, Liza On Demand, and many others. She’s touched the heads of a wide range of A-list celebrities including Dominique Thorne, Tika Sumpter, Tracee Ellis Ross, Lupita Nyong'o, Lexi Underwood, Pheobe Robinson, Emmy Raver, and many more.
She is passionate about what she does and has an extraordinary place in her heart for her community and many charitable events.
In an effort to give back, she has dedicated part of her time to serving sex trafficking and domestic abuse survivors with self care and cosmetology based services.
Marva is avid to empower hair stylists through education. With a deep desire to support their journey to success, she has created a "Salon to Set Guide" to help teach other stylists how to get their big break into the Union.
Marva's philosophy is that healthy hair, great style, and great detail should coexist when creating a look – thus, she is creating her own line of products and tools that are designed to work with a wide range of textures to create a chic and authentic look. Her products will be released soon, so stay tuned!
